I love an easy weeknight dinner that you can throw together when you don’t know what to make but want something quick. That’s where this Chicken Sausage Pesto Pasta comes in because it’s perfect to make on those evenings when you want dinner on the table quickly. It’s also great to have for leftovers too!

This Chicken Sausage Pesto Pasta is meant to be one of those meals you can always fall back on when you don’t know what to make. It’s sure to please everyone too! Win-win. I love making my own pesto at home. It adds so much of a fresh flavor to pasta that you don’t get necessarily with store-bought. Obviously, I am all about making these easier on you, so if that means using your favorite store-bought brand then do it!

What you need for Chicken Sausage Pesto Pasta:

  • Pasta
  • Spicy Italian Chicken Sausage
  • Mozzarella Balls
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Fresh Basil
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Pine nuts
  • Lemon
  • Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • Garlic cloves
  • Sea Salt
  • Black Pepper

How to make this pasta:

  1. Start by cooking your pasta according to package. Set aside.
  2. Make your homemade pesto by combining: basil leaves, extra virgin olive oil, garlic cloves, lemon juice, grated parmesan cheese, pine nuts, salt and pepper. Mix to combine.
  3. Cook chicken sausage according to instructions.
  4. In a large bowl, add pasta, tomatoes, mozzarella balls and chicken sausage.
  5. Add pesto on top to mix in.
  6. Serve with additional fresh basil and grated parmesan on top.
  7. Enjoy!

How to store your leftover pasta:

It’s best to store any leftover pasta in a sealed container in the fridge. I like using these!

If you want to switch this up, try doing this instead:

  • Use your favorite chicken sausage or regular sausages!
  • Make it simpler by using your favorite store-bought pesto instead of making it!
  • Add more summer produce like zucchini or squash.
