About Me & Why I started onebalancedlife

Hi! I’m Taylor. If you’re reading this right now, thank you for taking the time to come to my page! Honestly, launching a blog wasn’t something I thought I would ever do. Ask me two years ago & I wouldn’t have thought I would be making a site! I started my Instagram account a year and a half ago as a way to share my love for just real [good] food. I had no idea the friendships I would make, experiences it would allow for me, and the way I would personally grow from it. I’m a firm believer in everything happens for a reason, and without a doubt I know this was one of them. If you’re reading this & have had something on your mind to do, my best piece of advice is to just DO IT. Lots of growth happens outside of your comfort zone.

A few things about me! I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated from The University of South Carolina in 2015 with a major in Sport and Entertainment Management. I was fortunate to land a great opportunity in Dallas right out of school. The two and a half years I was in Dallas were probably the most transformative years for me. I learned a lot about myself and went through a lot of ups & downs. I left a career because I was unhappy & jumped into the unknown for a little while. Fast forward a little bit & now I am living in Austin! Still a lot of changes happening since I’ve moved to a new city, but without a doubt, I know it is only creating growth for me. I’ve always said I will live anywhere, but I want to bounce around as much as possible until it’s time to settle. I do love this city, so it may be hard to get me out of here!

For as long as I can remember, I would always consider myself a healthy person. I think the problem was that for so long I didn’t really understand what “healthy” meant. I was in and out of dieting, working out so I could be “skinny” and, unfortunately,  missed out on a lot of things due to these thoughts being my main concern.  I’m not sure when it switched for me. I think I was just sick of trying to reach a point where I wasn’t finding happiness at. I believe that balance is different for everyone. Through my own experience with my health and relationship with food & exercise, I want to be a part of someone else’s journey who may be struggling. That is why I made the decision to pursue the Institute of Integrative Nutrition course in hopes to be able to be a source of light for others in their health journey.

Through all of this, insert onebalancedlife being created on Instagram. This was something I had thought about for years. I thought about it while I was in school, but was scared to pursue it because it was so outside of my comfort zone. It’s funny to think back to how different it would have been because my values towards food were so different then. While I love sharing my food and fun recipes, there are many other things in my life that contribute to balanced life for me–the good, bad & everything in between. And that is something that I hope to expand on through this blog & my page!

Everyone is so unique with their story and I’m just here to share mine while hopefully inspiring others along the way! Thank you for being here! I want to learn more about you! I love hearing from you. If there’s anything that you would like to see on here, blog posts, recipes, etc. please let me know! Lots of love! xo

Talk soon, Taylor.
